Robbery no longer a violent crime under federal law
Under Penal Code Sec. 211 Robbery is no Longer a Violent Crime
Robbery in violation of California Penal Code Sec. 211 is no longer a “crime of violence” under 18 U.S.C. Sec. 16. This change in the law governing the crime-of-violence analysis provided a defendant with a plausible ground for dismissal of an indictment for illegally reentering the United States after having been deported and after having been convicted of an “aggravated felony.”
